Project paperless(sorta): Un-paper towels without the roll..in a bucket

Project paperless

My husband and I were having a discussion about the amount of paper products we use. For a family our size that gets pretty pricey and our trash on trash day is a bit crazy. it's better since we've gone back to cloth diapers. We recycle ,but there are certain things you dont want in the recycling bin.

We aren't very conservative when it comes to the paper arena.
like with paper towels. They are disposable. Use it once or twice then throw it away with out a second thought to its existence. which is fine ,but I feel so wasteful! It's not about politics is just about being conservative (hey I thought you said no politics?) and taking care in what you have and not taking anything for granted. I know.. I come from the "me" generation and I'm a whinny spoiled boob sometimes.
I don't think paper products are evil either I just rather spend my money on things more meaningful.
Also if you read my part one of cloth diapering I mentioned feeling that connection with my ancestors. same tfuzzy feeling here. I love it. Brawny hottie wasn't around looking all manly and clean back then.

In a world where moms are Cra Cra
one mom is the Cra Cra-est
she has convinced her husband to never buy paper towels again.
which is a lie because she will keep a small hidden pack for when the dog pees on the floor and when the kids catch a wicked stomach bug and puke everywhere.
Anyways I digress
wait where was I?
Anyways this is her DIY for
UN-PAPER TOWELS w/out the role

Cloth DIapering a Toddler and Twins :part 2 cloth diapering covers

Cloth diaper covers for my toddler and twins

First off it may seem like I have a lot just remember I'm cloth diapering three right now and I've been cloth diapering since my first born.. So don't get overwhelmed mmmmkay!

Cloth diapers are pretty much just a cover and insert (there are all in ones, but i've never used them before). Some parents prefer to change the whole combo with each change. My kids wear there covers for one night and day except if crazy poop happens of course..

Just a cover and insert? right? yes...until you see all the brands and styles and cutness and different systems and and and and!

I'm going to share the brands I have experience with.

So first off

FLIP- Flip diapers covers are amazing! its a one size wonder.  The covers have snaps to adjust the sizes of the diaper from newborn-toddler. My toddler wears them and hes over 35lbs. They are pretty low maintenance. The only thing I don't like is the plastic part wear the snaps are on the inside sometimes traps poopy during those big poop days, but its nothing to really complain about.. Flip also offers disposable inserts.

Bummis- Also one size wonder! easy to clean. sometimes the Velcro can get pee pee stinky but a little Dreft spray does the trick.I put these on my toddler the most! SO STINKIN CUTE!

Alvababy- similar to flip with the Adjustable snaps. They are so Gosh Darn cute! unlike the flip the inside of the diaper is so soft and cushy! I was worried they would stain more with the inside being actual fabric ,but I was so please to see after a thorough spraying of DREFT the stain was lifted completely. Alva baby diapers are so cheap too! If I have to buy more I'm getting these! They come with two of inserts.

*** ive never ordered through their site Ive always ordered through Amazon

ECONOBUM- its in the name ECONO (economy) BUM. They are also related to Flip almost an exact twin, but these have less snaps. They are less expensive than flip ,but more than Alvababy..

G-Diaper- They are cute, but my least favorite. They work okay for my toddler, but I haven't been too excited about them for my twins. the plastic insert that snaps into the diaper cradles your insert. blocking the cover from getting wet. The plastic insert  "Cradle" is kind of  short and my twins leak through the top waist band/Velcro part.. So I wont buy these again ,but I use them often out of necessity.  They are very popular ,but not my fav. These are really great if you want to go the disposable inserts route which I do on a rare occasion.

STAY TUNED FOR PART 3 COVERING INSERTS!
