Cock a doodle- doo

I have this crazy contemporary color pallet in my head.
The colors are  as follows:
Turqiose
Lime Green
Grey
black
white
Coral/pink
I splash of purple

I wanted a chicken to go above my kitchen cabinets.
I started my search at a couple different goodwill stores, dollar stores, garden ridge, ect.
Nothing.. No cluck cluck

Now this chicken wasn't going to be like other chickens. It could look like other chickens, but remember my color pallet. I'm not going for the traditional farm colors So I planed on spray painting the poultry turquoise.

Then My wonderful Sister in-law suggested Ross
She happened to be going and invited me to come. I declined, it was a busy day and my kiddos needed to have some mommy cuddle time. The Next day she showed me a picture of this chicken that was actually a rooster, but I didn't care whatev!! This crazy  rooster had all of my colors! So I raced over there early morning  Low and behold (like it was a surprise, it's kind of an oddball piece and was waiting for a crazy lady like me to pick it up) It was there on the shelf! So thank you sister in- law you rock!  I will have to save spray painting figurines for another time.
Here it is!
Cock a doodle doo!
He's poseing with my daughters "tea party rocks"

Once again My choice in decor has left my Hubby scratching his head.
Side note- we are in the middle of new constructions so he doesn't see my decor plan as I do... poor guy he's missing out =P and I know he will love it once its all in place.

The moral of this post is to stick with your ideas and decor dreams because you never know when you'll find that beautiful or bizarre  piece you were looking for.
The treasure hint is the funnest part...even with screaming children in the cart =/
LOL

Kooky Rooster cost $13.99 at Ross
I dont know if I saved money but my original plan was
A chicken $ ?.??
Spray paint $3.78 ish

Making a yarn wig

My sweet daughter wants to be Strawberry Shortcake for Halloween. She's been talking about it since well August maybe even July. Her bday is this month also so of course she wants a Shortcake party. We are "making" her costume which really means we are making somethings and have found a dress on clerance that looks just like Strawberry would wear. It's been so fun. My sister-in law has helped so much! We all can't wait till she can try it on as a whole =D!

Inspiration for this project is here and this lady did a great job!

Here's what you need!
support panel Panty Hose
Spool of yarn or more we only used a little more than half
Glue gun
Scissors

Optional-beads and pretty things to decorate the wig. We used Glow in the dark beads =)

Place panty hose on your young padawan let her run around laughing and showing everyone how silly she looks.
next tie a double knot with the legs
Cut legs off!!!! oh my
Cut several strang of yarn at you desired length
take a small strand and tie in the middle
Start placing them on your model ( I also used a baby doll at first)
My hubby walked in mortified that I was doing this then had a good laugh
My willing Model distracted by Baby Einsteins

Carefully Hot glue (yes I hot glued the bundles I was so so careful) I put a bead of glue on the middle knot of each bundle
So far so good!
This wig would make a great Aura sing costume!!!! Brilliant

So back to hot gluing the yarn bundles
You just keep going and going all the way to the front
once done I cut some pretty shotty straight across bangs that I will fix later
after I took it off my model I glued like crazy under the yarn hair for reinforcement
I also filled in gaps with more yarn and glue
once done we added our pretty glow beads to random strands
We made big chunky pig tails
Let the fun begin
She's thrilled that's all that matters =D

COST
yarn- $2.77
Beads-$1.70 ish
PANTY HOSE FREEEEEEEE
Total 4.47

Time
a couple of  interrupted hours in front of HGTV and The princess and the Frog

Food.. Ya know I couldnt stop thinking about it

ITALIAN CHICKEN!!!!

So I happened to be on pinterest (what Im only on like 3x a day......) and I was looking for something yummy to pin. My family and I are temp.  living with our kids grandparents and cook a couple times a week. so I needed something yummy, fresh and would be enough for our family of eight!
This dish is very pretty, easy, and delish.
I added garlic powder, onion flakes, oregano, basil, thyme and added a lot more olive  oil

What you need
Olive oil
Flour
 sugar
Small jar (drained)of Artichoke hearts
5-6 Roma tomatoes
GARLIC!!!!
Chicken breasts
MOZZARELLA CHEESE
Fresh Basil
and your added seasonings

Grease a glass pan rub chicken with oil and seasonings
in a bowl add your flour, sugar, tomatoes, artichokes, seasonings
Top chicken with mixture from bowl
Bake at 350 for 40-1 hr
Take out 10min before done and top with Mozzarella
Pop it back in the oven
Once done top with fresh basil and there ya go!

We paired this dish with whole wheat linguini, pasta sauce and "bread sticks" My mom in law makes wonderful bread sticks, I tried and they just look like rolls haha
